B and me are gonna cut and slice you!

...and that's because my girl B got me 1) an avocado slicer, 2) a tomato/cheese knife, and 3) a mandolin slicer for my birthday - and they are so awesome! I've wanted these items and now I have them. She knows me so well.
We had lunch at Basil's today. Her little bump is so cute! And she is carrying a wee little baby boy. I can't wait for his arrival! But first, we'll be having a baby shower. :)

Welcome to the blog sphere, Jenny!

Yes! Another awesome person started blogging! My at-work sister Jenny just launched her first blog. Go and check out the picture of her adorable baby girl. Hooray!!

Stop to see the lights

It's been a long Thursday. Work was gratifying, class was engaging, and the city lights looked beautiful. Here is the building where I take my MBA classes. Love the fact that this was taken at 9:20pm.
And here is the view across from the building - downtown Des Moines. Haters can say what they will, but Des Moines is a beautiful place.
And now it's time for my evening snack, some nighttime TV, and restful sleep. :)

A fashion resurrection

Why yes - I am wearing overalls.
I like how they don't cut into my guts.

The other side:2) Cool bookends and a book by Nietzsche from my cool cousin Budo.

4) Swiss chocolate from cousin Budo.
5) An adjustable size dress form, patterns, and sewing tools from my mother-in-law.

And here is my dress form, who I have to name yet (any suggestions?), wearing the back of my cardigan-in-progress.

Birthday festivities - Day 1

Saturday (June 12th) was my 27th birthday. I celebrated at my parents' house with my cousin Budo, whose 37th birthday was the next day.
My mom made a fruity, fluffy cake that was just perfect. We shared some pizza and champagne. And then took the obligatory pictures.
My husband was a good sport. He normally doesn't like taking pictures.
Here are a few with my awesome cousin, who is like a brother to me, and my dear husband, who made it his mission to make me happy on my birthday.
My family is wonderful. I love every minute I get to spend with them.
And of course, it would not have happened without my parents, who I love a lot.
We even had some cyber-guests from Canada - my cousin Rudy and his wife Oici
I love Skype - it allows us all to connect. It truly feels like we are all in the same room. I even got to see my beloved grandma and my aunts in Bosnia that night.
Ahh, technology. And 20 years ago, we thought it was inconceivable that we'd have phones that would allow us to see the other person. :)
