Father's Day 2012

Baby Jack had a custom-made card for his daddy for Father's Day. He also made something himself (with mama's help).

Today we hung out with both sides of family. First we went to aunt Em's where we saw grandma, grandpa, great-grandma, great-grandpa, great-uncles, and cousins.
Then we went to majka and did's house where I got to see my aunties and cousin S from Switzerland and cousin B from Waterloo.
I was generally in good mood today. Lots of smiles and stories for everyone.

What a fun-filled day. Now I'm all tuckered out and ready for sleep. Happy father's day, daddy!

Baby roll

Baby has been rolling over on his tummy for weeks now. I finally captured it on camera, even though it wasn't one of his more effortless rolls. He does it all the time now, and often prefers to sleep on his tummy.

We are so proud of you, pumpkin!

Birthday reflections

This week I turned 29. I can't say I'm sad about leaving my twenties. I've accomplished a lot - graduated from college summa cum laude, earned a Master's degree, landed an interesting and rewarding job with a great company (my top choice), married the love of my life (10 years strong!), moved into our own little home, and the best of all - had our sweet little baby boy.

While I might have had a rough start in childhood, this last decade has been smooth sailing. Not that there haven't been some roadblocks along the way (almost losing my job and having my brilliant husband struggle to find employment, losing loved ones, house needing some major repairs, and having health issues now and then), but we've focused on the positive and moved right along.

While I spent my birthday sneezing and coughing and feeling miserable after a catching a cold (darn daycare germs), I enjoyed spending it with my boys.

I also dyed my hair and cut my bangs in the spur of a moment. My hair needed... something... anything. It's alright.
Jack is now rolling over on his tummy and holding his head real high. This was a big surprise to us and a great birthday present from my thriving little boy.
Love my sweet darlings
I'm looking forward to future accomplishments and life events with these two. But for now, I'm going to take it one day at a time.

First week at daycare

We completed our first week at the daycare center. Jack seems to be taking well to his teachers and the other babies. He is mostly content. I get to visit him during lunch breaks, which is a great comfort to this mama.

3 months

My baby turns 3 months this week! I can't believe how fast he is growing. He has started daycare and seems to be fine with it. He is mostly content, with occasional fussiness. He sleeps through the night most nights. I'm so in love with him.

Gardening 2012

Last night I got the plants from my dad so this morning I was eager to plant them. I even had a little helper. We got some gypsy peppers, a couple of heirloom tomato varieties, tomatillos, and a few other plants. I'm really hopeful we get some home-grown veggies this summer.

And for lunch I had a salad using the lettuce from my dad's garden with some sea salt, lemon juice, and balsamic vinegar. Yum!

Baby quilt

Mary, a friend and coworker of my mom's made a GORGEOUS quilt for my baby boy. We just love it!
Check out the video below. Jack is checking it out and apparently really liking it.
The colors are awesome and the fabric is super-cute. This one will get a lot of wear.
Baby boy is very grateful.

Thank you, Mary! This was so kind and generous of you. We are going to cherish this keepsake.
