Celebrating fall with family

In the past 11 years, the region in Bosnia where I'm from has been celebrating fall with a big festival that involves roasting of chestnuts. My parents decided to uphold that tradition in their own backyard. What a fun way to spend time together! And if you've never had roasted chestnuts, you need to try. Yum!

All together

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire

Removing golden nuggets from their charred shells

Beautiful golden chestnuts

My sisters and I also raided my parents garden for some surprise harvest (strawberries and raspberries).

Strawberry!

Going for the refugee look

Love my family.

This was so much fun! We should do it more often, especially when your little sweet potato joins the family. :D
