Little sailor

Last night we gave baby boy a bath. He seems to like it much better than he used to. He didn't cry until after we took him out to get him to dry. Afterward, he had another night of inconsolable crying. Hope his colic goes away soon. It's heartbreaking to see him cry and not being able to comfort him. But luckily, his daddy has been so amazing at doing everything to console him. Hubby is such a nurturing, patient, and caring father. I couldn't love him more.
Other than the colic, baby boy has been such a sweet and funny baby. He grunts and is a noisy eater. His hair sticks up after bath like a pompadour, and he rewards us with an adorable smile now and then.
We love him more and more each day. He is teaching us to be better people.

Baby hat

During my pregnancy I knitted some stuff for baby boy. The Puerperium cardigan and the matching hat ended up being his going home outfit, but the other stuff has been a little big on my little peanut.  But he's been growing and his head has increased in circumference. So naturally, I had to try on him a chunky hat I knitted.

The new normal

Our days are blended together into a string of feedings, diaper changes, pumping, soothing, etc. We are tired, anxious, and happy. Now and then, we have a moment to do something other than what's listed above.
We put together a swing on the back porch to enjoy on nice days
Hubby grilled us some veggies one night
Received another box from Citrus Lane with cool stuff
Family and friends sent cute presents to the little boy

We got to do something about that colic

Hospital photos

The CD containing our hospital photos arrived in the mail today. Baby boy looks great. These were taken minutes before we got to take him home from the NICU. He was 5 days old and did great during the photo shoot. Sorry for the photo overload, but I just couldn't choose a few. :)

Many faces of baby

Currently, life revolves around baby. He needs to be fed and changed every 2-3 hours around the clock. Then there are the baths and play times and pumping every three hours. Needless to say, I'm completely sleep-deprived and a bit loopy. But looking at his sweet little face makes it all worth it. I'm totally crazy about this little creature.

Welcome home, baby!

We finally got to bring baby home from NICU and now are adjusting to the little one's schedule. These first few days/nights are pretty tough, but the joy of having him with us overshadows all anxieties and fears we inherit as first-time parents. I'm so grateful for my doting husband and our family/friends.

He is here!

Meet our baby Jack. He was born on March 6th at 12:43am. He weighed 7lbs 4oz and was 20 inches long.
Fresh out of the womb
On Monday, I was feeling a little icky at work, and decided to head home a little early. Good thing I did, because as I walked in the house at 4pm, my water broke. We headed to the hospital and checked in at around 5:30pm. By 8pm, I was at about 5cm dilated and received my epidural. When the doctor came to check on me at midnight, she was amazed that he was ready to come out. He was born shortly thereafter.

Labor and delivery were amazingly fast and easy. Unfortunately, I also had a fever during labor, and baby boy's heart rate was a little high, so they took him to NICU to make sure there was no infection. Everything is looking good, but he might stay at the NICU a few days longer just to be sure lab results continue to come back negative.

We are crazy about this little guy. He is so sweet and adorable. He even cries courteously.  Can't wait to take him home.
